JSON

JavaScript Object Notation: a text format that stores data as named values that can be nested inside one another, such as a customer containing a list of orders.

JSON tells text, numbers, true and false, and null apart, which CSV cannot. It has no date type, so dates travel as text, and nested data has to be flattened before it fits a table.

  • CSVComma-separated values: a plain text file format in which each line is a row and commas separate the values in it.
  • SchemaThe declared structure of a dataset: its columns, their names and types, and the rules they must satisfy.
  • Tabular dataData arranged in rows and columns, where each row is one item and each column holds one attribute of every item.

Karg checks for many of these when it profiles a file, applies the fixes it is confident about, and sets the rest aside for your review. See how it works, or have our team clean your data for you.
