Currency code
A three-letter code that names a currency without ambiguity, such as USD, EUR, or JPY. The codes are defined by the ISO 4217 standard.
A symbol is not enough, because several countries use the dollar sign for different currencies. An amount column needs a currency column beside it, or the amounts cannot safely be added.
