Timeliness

Whether data is recent enough for the use it is being put to. An address that was correct three years ago may not be correct today.

Timeliness depends on how quickly the underlying facts change. A birth date never goes stale, while a job title or phone number can. A last-updated date on each record lets you judge.

  • Data qualityHow well a dataset serves the purpose it is used for. Usually judged by accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, uniqueness, and timeliness.
  • AccuracyHow closely a recorded value matches the real thing it describes. A birth date that is a well-formed date and still not the person's birth date is inaccurate.
  • TimestampA value that records a date and a time of day together, marking one moment: 2025-03-04T14:30:00Z.

Karg checks for many of these when it profiles a file, applies the fixes it is confident about, and sets the rest aside for your review. See how it works, or have our team clean your data for you.
